Arooj Aftab is a Pakistani-American singer, composer, and producer whose music masterfully blends jazz, minimalism, neo-Sufi, and folk traditions. Raised in Lahore, she gained global recognition after moving to the United States and became the first Pakistani artist to win a Grammy Award in 2022 for her song “Mohabbat,” which was also featured on Barack Obama’s summer playlist. Aftab, who also works in film scoring, is celebrated for her meditative vocals and experimental sound that transcends cultural boundaries.
